A little bit about LFL Nutrition…
Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the internet…
I’m Karen - owner and founder of LFL Nutrition. I love exploring the great outdoors, cycling the beautiful countryside near my home in Devon, laughing with my friends at the gym (when I should be working out – sorry Coach!), and I’m a bit of a ‘weather nerd’ having worked in meteorology most of my life (look up at that sky – I hope the skies are blue, but clouds have their beauty too!). Most of all, I LOVE food – cooking, baking and sharing good food with friends and family; and I particularly love the science around nutrition, especially how good nutrition, and lifestyle, can help us live life to the full.
I’ve called my business LFL – Life’s For Living – Nutrition. Why? Good question!
You see, I feel passionately about helping people live life to the full and finding joy in the everyday - and, for many, this is intrinsically linked with our health. I also feel passionately about people being heard – what can seem a small health issue to one person can be life limiting to another.
Let me tell you how it was for me: a number of years ago, I started to feel sluggish, miserable and unmotivated, and put on weight rapidly. I certainly didn’t feel I was living life to the full – quite the opposite. I didn’t really know what was ‘normal’ or not.
Fast forward a number of years when, by accident, it was picked up in an unrelated blood test that I had thyroid disease – Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. Following that diagnosis, I started to learn more about how diet and lifestyle could complement modern medicine to support my condition.
Having experienced the benefit of nutrition and lifestyle interventions, I became increasingly interested in nutrition and lifestyle science as a means to benefit many others as it had helped me. I finally took the plunge and signed up for a three-year course in Nutritional Therapy with the renowned Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION) in London, and graduated with Distinction. And the rest, as they say, is history…!
Whether it’s improving general health and wellbeing, helping to support a seemingly minor, nagging ailment, or even helping to transform a life once limited by a severe complaint, nutritional therapy can be helpful for many people.
As well as working 1-2-1 with clients, I also feel passionately about corporate wellbeing and I have built skills related to this, having spent many years working in management for a large corporation, including presentations to target groups and wider audiences internationally. More details on the services I provide are detailed here.
Interest areas
I love working with clients from a variety of backgrounds and who may be experiencing a range of challenges – from low energy to sluggish digestion to skin issues, and many other issues that may be preventing them from living life to the full. Some – but by no means all - of my main interest areas include:
- Thyroid and hormone balance
- Gastrointestinal upset
- Pain management
- Corporate wellbeing – including supporting mental wellbeing, and energy
My Qualifications
- Registered Nutritional Therapist (mBANT, rCNHC)*
- Registered Nutritionist (mBANT)
- DipION Nutritional Therapy (Distinction)

What do these qualifications mean?
I am a scientist at heart and I LOVE learning and keeping up to date with the latest research around nutrition and lifestyle (some might like to call me a nutritional science nerd – and I’m ok with that!). As well as ongoing research, I attend regular professional development courses to keep fully up to date. As a member of *BANT (the British Association for Nutrition and Lifestyle Medicine) I am fully qualified in both the science of nutrition and clinical practise. BANT promotes high standards of education in Nutritional Therapy, clinical practise and ethical standards within the profession, and BANT-member Registered Nutritional Therapists are also further regulated by the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Therefore, by choosing to work with me as a Registered Nutritional Therapist - and as a member of BANT and regulated by the CNHC - you can be confident that you are receiving a bespoke service by a professional who is properly trained, qualified and insured.
